Job summary

Western States Lodging & Management is seeking an Assistant Property Manager in Orem, UT to support daily operations and leasing performance. You’ll work under the Property Manager to lead leasing activities, resident relations, and team development.

The role emphasizes budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance with property laws while delivering an exceptional resident experience. This full‑time position offers benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of experience in property management, real estate, or a related field.
  • Supervisory or assistant manager experience.
  • Knowledge of property management laws, regulations, leasing practices, and best practices.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and resident relations skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist daily operations of the apartment community and support the Property Manager in achieving property goals.
  • Help develop and implement leasing and marketing strategies to attract residents and improve retention.
  • Coordinate leasing activities including advertising, tours, applications, leases, and renewals.
  • Build relationships with residents and address questions, complaints, and concerns professionally.
  • Provide leadership, training, and feedback to leasing staff and maintenance personnel.
  • Assist with budgeting, financial reporting, expenses, rent collection, and other financial responsibilities.
  • Monitor property performance and identify opportunities to improve occupancy and resident experience.

What You’ll Do
  • Assist with the daily operations of the apartment community and support the Property Manager in achieving property goals
  • Help develop and implement leasing and marketing strategies designed to attract prospective residents and strengthen resident retention
  • Coordinate and oversee leasing activities, including advertising, prospecting, apartment tours, applications, lease preparation, and renewals
  • Build strong relationships with residents and address questions, complaints, and concerns professionally and effectively
  • Help resolve resident disputes and identify solutions that support resident satisfaction and retention
  • Provide leadership, training, guidance, and performance feedback to leasing associates and maintenance personnel
  • Help coordinate property operations to ensure maintenance needs, work orders, repairs, and apartment make-readies are completed efficiently
  • Assist with budgeting, financial reporting, expense management, rent collection, and other financial responsibilities
  • Monitor property performance and help identify opportunities to improve occupancy, operations, and the resident experience
  • Maintain accurate leasing, resident, financial, and property records
  • Help ensure compliance with applicable property management laws, regulations, policies, and industry best practices
What Makes You Successful
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2–3 years of experience in property management, real estate, or a related field
  • Previous experience in a supervisory, leadership, or assistant manager capacity
  • Knowledge of property management laws, regulations, leasing practices, and industry best practices
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Excellent communication and resident relations skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Confidence handling resident concerns, resolving problems, and making sound decisions
  • Ability to analyze financial information and assist with budgeting and reporting
  • Proficiency with property management software and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work collaboratively with residents, prospective residents, associates, vendors, contractors, and leadership
Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent walking and standing, as well as the ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, and reach. Associates must be able to use proper body mechanics and lifting techniques to occasionally lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
