Job Overview

As an Assistant Property Manager, you will be instrumental in supporting the day-to-day operations of residential properties. We seek an experienced professional with strong organizational and communication skills, a proactive approach to multi-tasking, and the ability to build valuable relationships with our tenants. Prior experience in property management is highly preferred. This position requires regular daytime travel to our property sites for onboarding and offboarding tenants and related activities; a company vehicle is usually available for these travels, but when it is not, use of your personal vehicle will be required with full mileage reimbursement. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Handle tenant inquiries, correspondence, and lease renewals via phone, email, or system(s)
  • Assist in preparing reports, budgets, and financial records
  • Collect rent, process payments, and issue late notices
  • Address tenant concerns and service requests promptly
  • Assist with tenant screening, lease signings, and move-in/move-out coordination
  • Market and advertise vacant units, conduct property tours, and manage listings
  • Coordinate property repairs and maintenance with company technicians or third-party vendors
  • Assist when needed in conducting routine inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Ensure compliance with Texas landlord-tenant laws and fair housing regulations
  • Assist with eviction proceedings when necessary
  • Answer and direct all phone calls accordingly and in a timely fashion
  • Order office supplies and reconcile expense reports

Skills and Qualifications

  • Previous property management, leasing, or real estate experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of Texas landlord-tenant laws is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Proficiency in property management software (AppFolio) is a plus
  • Strong communication, organizational skills, and customer service experience
  • Bilingual is a plus (English/Spanish)
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • Reliable transportation is required

Experience and Education

  • Administrative experience: 1+ years
  • High School Diploma or GED
