Assistant Project Surveyor# Assistant Project SurveyorPanama City, FL 32405## OverviewPosition TypeFull TimeJob ShiftDayTravel PercentageNone## Description## POSITION SUMMARYAs Assistant Project Surveyor, you will assist in the overall management and direction of projects. Responsibilities include managing projects from beginning to end, including scheduling and oversight of field and office personnel, progress monitoring, management, and reporting. ## ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS* Responsible for assisting, supervising, and managing all survey activities related to conventional, GPS, and Laser Scanning surveys.* Assist in creating a scope of work for all projects through client negotiation and knowledge of the project, which will define all the project details and be used as a communication tool between the Project Manager, the Field Teams, and the CAD Technicians.* Ensure that the final product meets and exceeds SSMC quality standards and the Standards of Practice outlined in Florida Administrative Code 5J-17.* Ensure that a comprehensive job packet for each project consists of research materials, the scope of work, a work order, and all necessary forms for field and office personnel to complete the project.* Develop comprehensive schedules for long-term projects that reflect the estimated time frame for completion of work based on the scope of work negotiation with the client. Prepare cost and time estimates for survey proposals.* Provide day-to-day guidance and direction to field personnel, including feedback on performance.* As necessary, provide proper training and support to field staff in survey procedures.* Verify that proper research is performed on all projects before being released to the field team.* Organize and document a post-project meeting highlighting any project phases that could have been improved through organizational structure, communication with the field and/or client, estimated schedule, and a review of the job cost (estimated to actual, including a variance report).* Organize project folders under your direction to be purged and ready for scanning.* Participates in and supports the development of long-term goals and objectives.* Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and construction documents.* Accommodate client and job site needs by responding to all inquiries promptly and professionally.* Occasionally work in the field performing surveying tasks.* May perform light office duties including but not limited to filing, making copies, and scanning.* May carry out other duties as assigned by management.## Qualifications## EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE* Recently completed or enrolled and near completion in college education required for a Florida Professional Surveyor and Mapper’s license (PSM) under Florida Administrative Code 5J-17.021.* Surveyor in Training (SIT) or Certified Survey Technician Level IV (CST IV) desired.* Minimum of 4 years of Surveying experience in a Party Chief or CAD Technician position.* Ability to obtain Florida Professional Surveyor and Mapper licensure within 2 years of start date.## SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES* Proficient with AutoCAD, other CAD programs, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office suite* Computer skills and technical competence.* 2 years experience communicating or coordinating with clients on-site or in an office setting as a party chief or CAD technician.* Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.* Outstanding written and communication skills and an understanding how to provide overall client/project management is a must.* Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail and multitasking skills.* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.* Able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.* Works with the team; contributes to a positive team environment; welcomes feedback.* Approaches others in a tactful manner; Reacts well under pressure; Accepts and adapts to frequent change.* Must be able to communicate well with clients and other project team members.* Works with integrity and acts ethically; supports the organization's culture, goals, and values.## PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS* Requires a valid driver's license and must maintain eligibility to drive as per the Company Vehicle Policy.* May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.* Regularly required to sit, talk, or listen.* Reasonable accommodations may enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.## WORK ENVIRONMENTThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. **Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to complete projects.**
