The UCLA School of Dentistry invites applications for the position of Assistant Project Scientist in the Division of Preventive and Restorative Sciences, beginning on or about November 1, 2026. This is a paid, 100% time, non-Senate, non-tenure track position.

The ideal candidate will hold a PhD and have at least 4 years of post-graduate research, with experience in animal experiments, tail-vein injections, uCT imaging, and immunohistochemistry.

Qualifications

• Ph.D degree with a minimum of 4 years of post-graduate level laboratory research experience.
• Ability to perform animal experiments including tail-vein injection, uCT scanning/analysis, and immunohistochemical staining/analysis independently.
• Experience placing dental implants in mouse.
• Prior experiences with clinical trial studies and manuscript writing as well as grant writing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with and perform experiments related to research projects on oral diseases including MRONJ and implant-triggered osteonecrosis.
• Perform animal experiments including tail-vein injection, uCT scanning/analysis, and immunohistochemical staining/analysis.
• Contribute to manuscript writing and grant writing with successful acquisitions.

Position description

The UCLA School of Dentistry invites applications for the position of Assistant Project Scientist, in the Division of Preventive and Restorative Sciences, Section of Restorative Dentistry, beginning on or about November 1, 2026. This is a paid, 100% time, non-Senate, non-tenure track position. A PhD degree and a minimum of 4 years of post-graduate level laboratory research experience is required for this position. Appointment level and compensation rate will be commensurate with experience.

The selected candidate will report directly to a senior faculty member in the Section of Restorative Dentistry and indirectly to the Chair of that Division/Section and will assist with and perform experiments pertaining to research projects related to oral diseases including medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw and implant presence-triggered osteonecrosis. The candidate must be able to perform animal experiment including tail-vein injection, uCT scanning/analysis, and immunohistochemical staining/analysis independently. The candidate should have experience with placing dental implants in mouse. Prior experiences with clinical trial studies are highly desired, and the candidate should have experiences with manuscript writing as well as grant writing with successful acquirement.
