Job summary

Wilson Construction Company is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for transmission and distribution projects, based in Canby, OR, with travel across the Western United States. This field-based role supports on-site teams and reports to the On-site Project Manager or Superintendent.

You will assist with project administration, documentation control, procurement/logistics, and field support, gaining hands-on experience on critical infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, PM, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
• Advanced proficiency with MS Office; MS Project or Primavera P6 is a strong asset.
• Excellent multitasking, analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist project managers and schedulers with daily status data entry and look-ahead schedules.
• Process RFIs, transmittals, submittals, and maintain project spreadsheets.

Title: Assistant Project Manager – Transmission & Distribution

Location: Canby, OR AND Various Project Locations Throughout the Western United States (Field-Based / Travel Required)

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to join our team. This is an exceptional entry-to-mid-level career launcher for someone eager to gain hands-on field experience, learn from seasoned project managers, and contribute to critical infrastructure projects across the Western U.S.

Role Overview

This is primarily a field-office-based position supporting active construction sites across both transmission and distribution scopes, with occasional collaboration at our Canby, Oregon headquarters. Project durations range from a few weeks to multiple years. When deployed to a project site, a company vehicle and financial subsistence are provided. You will work directly under the guidance of the On-site Project Manager or Project Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Administration: Assist project managers and schedulers with daily status data entry, administrative tasks, and the preparation of 3- and 5-day look-ahead schedules.
• Documentation Control: Process Requests for Information (RFIs), transmittals, submittals, and maintain accurate project spreadsheets.
• Procurement & Logistics: Schedule material deliveries, track shipments, and assist with material invoice approvals.
• Field Support: Track and report equipment and vehicles operating in the right-of-way daily, while providing overarching support to field teams and handling project logistics.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with MS Project or Primavera P6 is a strong asset.
• Organizational Aptitude: Exceptional multitasking capabilities, analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and a proven ability to manage deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Communication: Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of staff and diverse personality types.
• Licensing & Travel: Must possess a valid driver’s license and a strong willingness to travel and reside at project sites across the Western United States.
