Job description

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager for Solar in California. The ideal candidate should be able to interact with staff at all levels, remain flexible, resourceful, proactive, and maintain professionalism and confidentiality. This role requires anticipating problems and opportunities, creative problem-solving, and strong communication skills. The Assistant Project Manager will partner with the project manager from bid preparation through final client acceptance, leading, coaching, and mentoring team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Perform cost control and financial management
  2. Collaborate with Preconstruction on project estimates and schedules
  3. Coordinate scopes of work
  4. Review and compile pay applications, change requests, and financial documentation
  5. Partner with the Project Manager or Construction Executive
  6. Draft client proposals
  7. Manage contracts and award subcontracts
  8. Provide direction for safe and timely project completion
  9. Mentor and coach project engineers and team members
  10. Manage career development and job assignments
  11. Direct responsibilities of Field and Project Engineers
  12. Manage subcontractors and suppliers
  13. Oversee budgets and make recommendations for subcontractors and trade partners
  14. Lead project buyout processes
  15. Facilitate meetings with subcontractors for project coordination
  16. Perform additional duties, including on-site Project Manager responsibilities for small projects
  17. Implement quality plans to meet customer performance criteria
QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management, or equivalent experience
  2. Minimum of five years of related experience
  3. Experience with large projects and complex responsibilities
  4. Strong organizational and detail management skills
  5. Basic understanding of construction law and business practices
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project management, and web applications at an intermediate level
  7. Professional attitude and customer service skills
  8. Valid driver’s license

COMPENSATION

The base pay range for this role is $99,500 - $134,300, with higher ranges for specific locations. Compensation is based on experience and internal equity. The position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
