Job summary

Network Cabling Services in Carrollton, TX, seeks an Assistant Project Manager to support the Project Manager and field teams in planning and execution of NCS projects. The role blends project coordination with hands-on field work in a hybrid setting.

The APM monitors progress, coordinates schedules, materials, site readiness, and closeout, while collaborating with customers, contractors, and internal teams to meet project goals.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction, industrial, telecommunications, low-voltage, or related blue-collar industry with a demonstrated record of achievement.
  • 2+ years of experience with NCS is preferred.
  • Construction or project coordination experience preferred.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use new software and technology.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively use mobile applications and technology in the field.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Strong verbal communication and professional written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.
  • Ability to work in both office/project management and field environments.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Represent NCS with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to customer service.
  • Assist the Project Manager with scheduling field personnel and resources to meet project requirements and customer expectations.
  • Monitor project schedules and assist with adjustments as project conditions change.
  • Assist with preparing material requisitions based on approved Bills of Materials (BOM).
  • Coordinate project tasks with material availability to support schedule requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate material inventory to ensure projects remain on schedule.
  • Prepare final as‑built markups for inclusion in customer drawing packages.
  • Assist the Project Administrator with preparing project closeout documentation and obtaining customer sign‑off.
  • Evaluate site readiness and identify potential issues that could impact project execution.
  • Coordinate site access, badging, and required personnel documentation.
  • Coordinate testing equipment and other specialized equipment needed to meet project schedules.
  • Monitor project and site quality to ensure NCS standards and customer expectations are met.
  • Perform assigned project tasks and assist with field execution as needed.
  • Provide hands‑on coaching and On‑the‑Job Training (OJT) to field personnel.
  • Assist with technical and skills training during new employee onboarding as requested.
  • Provide daily project status updates and reports as required.
  • Attend site meetings, project walkthroughs, and customer meetings as requested.
  • Communicate project progress, risks, delays, and potential issues to the Project Manager and appropriate stakeholders.
  • Follow all NCS policies, procedures, safety requirements, and project standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with Project Management, Estimating, field teams, customers, contractors, and other internal departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Project Manager and field teams in the successful planning and execution of NCS projects. This role assists with project coordination, material management, scheduling, site readiness, project closeout, and field execution.

The APM is a hybrid position that combines project management responsibilities with hands‑on field work. The role provides an opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to manage multiple projects in the future.

As the project’s "eyes in the field," the Assistant Project Manager monitors project progress, identifies potential issues, and communicates updates to the Project Manager and other stakeholders. The APM works closely with Project Management, Estimating, field personnel, customers, and contractors to support effective project planning, execution, and completion while meeting project performance goals.
