Job summary

Jacobsen Construction Company, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Project Manager in Phoenix to help coordinate projects, interpret contract documents, and support scheduling and cost control across multiple sites.

Qualifications

  • Four year Construction Management degree or technical degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the construction/engineering industry

Responsibilities

  • Develops understanding of scope and interdependence of all contract documents
  • Observes and records jobsite activity per required frequency
  • Manages document control to ensure work complies with contract documents
  • Evaluates change order requests and reports status
  • Reviews and processes as-built drawings to capture changes
  • Reviews project schedule and assists in maintenance
  • Manages the RFI process to facilitate timely information exchange
  • Maintains cost control mechanisms for the project
  • Coaches and develops team members through daily touchpoints and monthly sessions
  • Completes project close-out requirements
  • Coordinates meeting agendas and follows up on action items
  • Administers the quality control program
  • Monitors safety requirements and promotes a safe work environment
  • Maintains professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and contractors
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Your Day to Day
  • Develops full understanding of the scope and interdependence of all contract documents.
  • Observes and records jobsite activity in accordance with required contractual frequency.
  • Manages effective document control mechanisms for the project to ensure that work is performed in
    accordance with contract documents.
  • Evaluates change order requests including design changes, specifications and drawing releases and
    reports status.
  • Evaluates submittals of shop drawings, material data and samples and takes appropriate action based
    upon contract specifications.
  • Reviews and processes “as-built” drawings to ensure that all changes during the course of construction
    are recorded.
  • Reviews the project schedule and assists the project manager in its maintenance, as requested.
  • Manages the request for information process in order to facilitate the timely exchange of information
    between designer and contractor.
  • Assists the project manager in the maintenance of effective cost control mechanisms for the project.
  • Build employee skills and competencies through frequent, real-time coaching and sharing specific,
    actionable knowledge with team members through, daily touch points and monthly one-on-one
    coaching sessions. Act as an advocate for employees by identifying and extending development
    opportunities that support team members’ progress and success.
  • Completes project close out requirements in accordance with contract documents.
  • Coordinates meeting agendas, prepares minutes and follows up on action items.
  • Administers quality control program as outlined in the project procedures manual.
  • Becomes familiar with safety requirements of the project and monitors compliance.
  • Utilizes safe work practices and follows directives, policies, and procedures for assisting and maintaining
    a healthy and safe work environment.
  • Maintains effective and professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Education & Experience

Four year Construction Management or technical degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the construction and/or engineering industry
