Job summary

ENC Construction & Development in Chicago, IL is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support commercial and multifamily projects. The role focuses on coordinating project processes, managing documentation in Procore, and ensuring safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery.

The ideal candidate has a foundation in project engineering and is ready to lead project activities, communicate with clients and trade partners, and mentor junior staff while maintaining ENC’s safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience managing commercial, multifamily, or hospitality construction projects.
  • Experience as a Project Engineer or equivalent role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project documentation (RFI’s, submittals, meeting minutes, etc.) using Procore and ENC systems.
  • Lead procurement for select trades, including bid solicitation, scope review, award recommendations, and subcontracts.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders to maintain schedule and quality expectations.
  • Track project costs, prepare budget updates, review pay applications, and assist with forecasting.

ENC Construction & Development ("ENC") is seeking a motivated Assistant Project Manager to join our growing team in Chicago, IL. The Assistant Project Manager plays a critical role in the successful execution of commercial and multifamily construction projects by supporting the project team and taking ownership of key project management responsibilities. This position is ideal for professionals who have developed a strong foundation in project engineer capacity and are ready to lead project processes, coordinate with clients and trade partners, and contribute to delivering projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage project documentation (RFI’s, submittals, meeting minutes, etc.) utilizing Procore and established ENC systems.
  • Lead procurement for select trades, including bid solicitation, scope review, award recommendations, and subcontracts.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders to maintain project schedule and quality expectations.
  • Track project costs, prepare budget updates, review subcontractor pay applications, and assist with forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Identify potential risks and proactively develop solutions to maintain schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Support field operations by coordinating construction activities and collaboratively resolving project issues.
  • Participate in project meetings while documenting action items and ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Mentor and support Project Engineers as they develop project management skills.
  • Promote ENC’s commitment to safety, quality, client service, and professional excellence throughout all phases of construction.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study (Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, etc.).
  • 2–5 years of experience managing commercial, multifamily, or hospitality construction projects.
  • Previous experience as a Project Engineer or equivalent role.
  • Working knowledge of construction scheduling, budgeting, contract administration, and document control.
  • Experience with Procore or comparable construction management software preferred.
  • OSHA 30 certification is preferred or willingness to obtain.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of commercial construction processes from preconstruction through project closeout.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedules.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills with attention to project budgets and cost control.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and solution-oriented with sound professional judgment.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with owners, design teams, subcontractors, and field personnel.
  • Leadership mindset with a willingness to mentor junior team members.
