Overview
Assist in planning, coordinating, and managing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC components for manufacturing projects, supporting the Project Manager in ensuring project objectives are met on time, within budget, and to client specifications.
Responsibilities
- Must have knowledge of the mechanical, piping, or electrical trades.
- Research, analyze, and calculate data such as customer design proposals, specifications, and product manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
- Participate in the estimating process for customer design proposals.
- Analyze subcontractor proposals to confirm criteria are satisfied.
- Participate in negotiations of contracts with subcontractors and vendors for various trades, ensuring all phases of the work are encompassed and a clear definition of work responsibilities is defined.
- Review construction documents from subcontractors to confirm they comply with scope.
- Participate in awarding subcontracts.
- Coordinate design and engineering efforts; monitor and report on financial status of the project(s) and manage subcontract and contract administration.
- Participate in job progress scheduling to ensure construction parallels the schedule per the MEP of the project.
- Review construction installed by subcontractors to confirm compliance with scope.
- Purchase and monitor the delivery of all needed materials for the project(s) ensuring optimum prices, quality, and conformance to specifications for MEP Divisions.
- Participate in reviews and approve subcontractor and vendor payment requests; issue changes in the work to receive prices from subcontractors in a timely fashion.
- Work with design and engineering managers to ensure projects are designed, procured, and constructed within operating guidelines while conforming to technical requirements and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Visit job sites as needed to review progress and quality of work, with possible required relocation to the jobsite during the MEP portion of construction.
- Work with the overall Project Manager to verify the monthly Red File report for the MEP.
- Review shop drawings and submittals to ensure compliance with scope of work.
- Responsible for communication, implementation, and enforcement of Gray's safety program on site.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a four‑year college or university; or minimum of one‑year related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Professional registration required.
- Must possess basic computer skills, including the ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheet and e‑mail applications; and utilize programs for calculating loads and performing cost analysis.

May be exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold and/or heat, risk of electrical shock, explosives and vibrations. Noise level on the job site is normally moderate to loud. Overtime may be required. Some travel may be required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has supervisory responsibilities for drafting by on‑site and contract ACAD drafters, and for administrative assistants for work generated by this individual.
