Job summary

Gray Construction in Charlotte, NC seeks an Assistant Project Manager to support our MEP-focused projects. You will coordinate design and engineering efforts, monitor budgets and schedules, and help administer subcontracts and vendor payments.

The role requires a bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience), professional registration, and solid computer skills. You will work with the project team on site, review subcontractor work, and ensure safety standards are followed on site.

• Bachelor's degree or 1 year related experience or equivalent.
• Professional registration required.
• Basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets and e-mail applications; ability to use programs for calculating loads and cost analysis.

Responsibilities

• Must have knowledge of the mechanical, piping or electrical trades.
• Researches, analyzes and calculates data for feasibility of design or application.
• Participates in estimating for customer design proposals.
• Analyzes subcontractor proposals to confirm criteria are satisfied.
• Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and vendors to define scope and responsibilities.
• Reviews construction documents for scope compliance.
• Participates in awarding subcontracts.
• Coordinates design and engineering efforts; monitors financial status and administers subcontract and contracts.
• Monitors job progress to align construction with the MEP schedule.
• Reviews subcontractor work for scope compliance.
• Purchases and monitors materials for MEP divisions ensuring price/quality conformance.
• Reviews and approves subcontractor and vendor payment requests; processes price changes promptly.
• Collaborates with design/engineering managers to meet guidelines and customer satisfaction.
• Visits job sites to review progress and quality; may relocate temporarily for the MEP portion.
• Supports the Project Manager with monthly Red File report for MEP.
• Reviews shop drawings and submittals for scope compliance.
• Supports safety program communication and enforcement on site.
