Job summary

Essenti Talent is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for a major heavy civil/highway program in Lakeland, FL. You will support the project manager with planning, subcontracts, and cost control, coordinating vendors and field teams to keep work on schedule and on budget.

Ideal candidates have a 4-year degree in Construction or Civil Engineering and 3+ years on highway/bridge projects, with strong communication and experience in submittals, RFIs, and pay estimates.

Qualifications

• 3+ years on heavy civil highway or bridge projects as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer or APM.
• Four year degree in Construction Management, Construction Science or Civil Engineering.
• Solid with submittals, RFIs, quantities and pay estimates.
• FDOT or Turnpike experience is a plus.
• Clear writer and communicator under schedule pressure.
• Based in Central Florida or ready to relocate to the Lakeland area.

Responsibilities

• Support the project manager on cost, schedule and resource planning.
• Administer subcontracts and purchase orders, and coordinate subs and suppliers.
• Manage submittals, RFIs and change order paperwork with the owner.
• Track quantities, pay items and monthly pay estimates.
• Coordinate crews, material and equipment with the superintendents.
• Keep permits, licenses and project documentation current.
• Help update the schedule and the cost forecast.
• Back the field on safety and quality.
• Report progress to the project manager and the owner.
