Job summary

Superior Construction is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead heavy civil and bridge-style highway construction projects. The role requires coordinating with management on plans, staffing, equipment, and timelines while ensuring safety and contract compliance.

The position involves budget oversight, invoicing, and change order administration, with responsibilities to mentor engineers and enforce policies on-site. Regional travel may be required in the division.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Science and Management.
• 5+ years of heavy highway experience; 2+ years of progressive project management experience preferred.
• Self-starter who works well independently.
• Field-based project execution experience.
• Strong communication skills both oral and written.
• Safety Trained Supervisor Construction Certification.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with management to develop and adjust project plans, staffing, equipment, and timelines. Continuously evaluate and improve execution strategies throughout the project.
• Maintain understanding of contract documents and payment terms; review invoices, subcontractor payments, and cost reports; identify variances.
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of project records (daily reports, logs, photos, minutes).
• Manage the project budget, monitor cost performance, optimize work methods, and document change orders and claims.
• Mentor project engineers and interns, and enforce company policies.
• Negotiate and oversee subcontractors and vendors; ensure timely payments and dispute resolution.
• Represent the company professionally in negotiations and interactions.
• Enforce safety standards across all project activities.
