Primary Responsibilities


In the role of Assistant Project Manager - Geologic, we'll count on you to:



  • Assist with geologic and engineering studies, including field work, desktop analyses, field tests, and developing scope documents.

  • Work on multi-disciplinary teams to complete site characterizations, alternative analyses, engineering design, and construction projects.

  • Coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project's life cycle (from development and initiation to close-out), while under supervision of a Project Manager

  • Conduct analyses in support of developing design options and/or recommendations, and assist in the preparation of service deliverable documents.

  • Compile, review, and interpret multiple data types and sets into an understanding of project conditions and a geologic site model.

  • Work with the Project Manager for periodic project reviews

  • Work independently on small- to medium-sized projects or assist more-senior scientists on larger projects.

  • Conduct field investigations and related activities as directed by a senior geologist or engineer including:

    • borehole logging,

    • borehole instrumentation,

    • geologic and geomorphic mapping,

    • site inspections,

    • oversight of subcontractors,

    • and construction monitoring.



  • Conduct geologic and engineering analyses including:

    • soil and rock slope and/or tunnel stability,

    • rock mass characterization, block modeling,

    • liquefaction analyses, and

    • seepage analysis.



  • Prepare, organize, and coordinate production of reports and other deliverables.

  • Potential for rope access work and rope access certification (SPRAT)

  • Perform other duties as needed, including but not limited to:

    • Direct up to two junior staff on desktop analyses and field work.

    • Assist in development of work scopes, budgets, and proposal documents.





Preferred Qualifications



  • Master's degree

  • Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG)

  • Professional Geologist (PG)

  • Familiarity with lidar, photogrammetry, and 3d modeling.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Science, Hydrogeology or closely related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Prior experience with field work
  • Experience with well installation techniques, and groundwater and soil sampling procedures and analysis
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Leadership skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability and willingness to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures)
  • May require ability to travel
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
