Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Assistant Project Manager – Electrical (Industrial Construction) to support delivery of industrial electrical construction projects in the Raleigh–Durham, NC area from planning through closeout. Based in Wilson, NC, this full-time role combines office and field work with travel to job sites as needed.

You will coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, engineers, and clients, ensuring work progresses safely, on time, and within budget while growing into a full PM

Qualifications

• This role requires 1–3+ years of experience in electrical or industrial construction in field or office settings.
• An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent field experience.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems, drawings, and specifications used in industrial construction projects.
• Demonstrated project management skills within construction environments, including planning and documentation.
• Experience in industrial electrical construction or closely related settings.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing documents, schedules and records.
• Ability to work effectively with both field and office teams across disciplines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office for reporting and communication.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager with day-to-day management of industrial electrical construction projects from planning through closeout.
• Support project planning and scheduling activities to ensure work progresses safely, on time, and within budget.
• Coordinate material procurement by tracking orders, delivery schedules, and inventory to support uninterrupted field operations.
• Collaborate with field supervision to align manpower, equipment, and resources with project schedules and priorities.
• Monitor and track project costs, assist with preparing and processing change orders, and help maintain accurate cost records.
• Prepare, submit, and track Requests for Information (RFIs) and submittals to ensure clarity of scope and compliance with project specifications.
• Create and maintain project documentation, including daily reports, meeting minutes, logs, and other project records.
• Participate in regular jobsite visits to monitor construction progress, verify quality, and support safety compliance.
• Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and clients to coordinate work, resolve issues, and support positive working relationships.
• Support project closeout activities, including punch list creation and tracking, final documentation, and turnover packages.

Job Description

This full-time Assistant Project Manager position supports the successful delivery of industrial electrical construction projects in the Raleigh–Durham, NC area and on project-based assignments. The role suits a motivated, detail-oriented professional with electrical field or construction management experience who wants to grow into a full Project Manager position. You will collaborate closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, engineers, and clients to plan, coordinate, and execute projects safely, on schedule, and within budget. The position offers hands‑on exposure to all phases of the project lifecycle in active industrial environments, including manufacturing facilities, process plants, and large-scale infrastructure projects.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Construction management software experience is a plus and supports efficient project coordination and reporting.
• Formal education in Construction Management or Engineering is preferred and strengthens understanding of project delivery.
• Background in industrial electrical construction enhances familiarity with complex industrial environments and processes.
• Experience preparing RFIs, managing change orders, and working with project documentation is beneficial.
• Exposure to large-scale infrastructure projects, manufacturing facilities, or process plants is advantageous.

Work Environment

The role is full-time and primarily supports industrial electrical construction projects based in the Raleigh–Durham, NC area, with additional project-based travel as required. You will work in a mix of office and field environments, collaborating with project teams in active industrial facilities such as manufacturing plants, process facilities, and large infrastructure sites. The work involves regular jobsite visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety, often in operational industrial settings with heavy equipment, electrical systems, and ongoing construction activities. Standard business hours apply in the office, with flexibility as needed to support project schedules and field operations. You will use Microsoft Office and construction management tools to manage documentation, scheduling, and communication. A valid driver’s license and reliable travel to job sites are necessary, and you can expect a professional, safety-focused culture that emphasizes teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
