Job summary

BCCI is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support small- to mid-sized construction projects and partner with a Project Manager on larger builds. You will work with Superintendents in the field to keep projects running efficiently and successfully.

This role emphasizes coordination, documentation, and schedule management to meet client goals. This position requires 2–4 years in construction and a college degree or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years’ experience in the construction industry.
  • College degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or related technical discipline; a CM certificate if no degree.
  • Ability to meet critical deadlines and work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, maintain, distribute, and ensure timely document return for all documents on the project.
  • Manage subcontractor performance and resolve performance issues with Field Operations.
  • Prepare and distribute project documentation for meetings and communications.
  • Review drawings and scope; prepare Change Orders for review by PM.
  • Coordinate with the project team to ensure timely closeout.
  • Monitor schedule and update changes; ensure deadlines are met.

Job Description

As an Assistant Project Manager at BCCI, you’ll advance your construction career by managing small- to mid‑sized projects while collaborating with a Project Manager on larger, more complex builds. This hands‑on experience will give you valuable insight into high‑level project management. You’ll also work closely with our Superintendents in the field to ensure a variety of projects run efficiently and successfully.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Set up, maintain, distribute, and ensure timely document return for all documents that will pertain to the project to ensure procedural and contractual compliance both internally and externally.
  • As assigned by the Project Manager, manage subcontractor performance in conjunction with Field Operations and take action to resolve performance issues.
  • Prepare, edit, and distribute required project documentation for construction meetings and communication in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Review and have a thorough understanding of project drawings and subcontractor scope, inclusive of bulletins and owner scope changes. Prepare Potential Change Order and Change Order Requests for review and approval by the Project Manager.
  • Coordinate with the project team to ensure a timely project closeout.
  • Coordinate with internal and external project team members to monitor the project schedule and ensure deadlines are met. Update schedule and communicate changes as necessary and as assigned.
  • As assigned, under the supervision of a Project Manager/Senior Project Manager, assume the lead role on the project and exercise project management responsibilities and tasks as required to meet client project goals.
  • Assist in coaching, mentoring, and training of Project Engineers and new Assistant Project Managers. Be familiar with, adhere to, and model company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the company’s culture, mission, and values through thought leadership and actions.
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education: College degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, and/or other technical discipline or equivalent work experience. A certificate in Construction Management is required in the absence of a college degree and should supplement a degree in business administration or liberal arts.
  • Specialized Knowledge & Skills: Working knowledge of construction documentation and pricing; working knowledge of company software programs, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Procore, and CMiC; strong organizational skills; ability to independently organize work assignments and meet critical deadlines.
  • Experience: 2‑4 years’ experience in the construction industry.
  • Note: While formal education and degrees are valued, this position places a stronger emphasis on relevant and transferable skills as well as both paid and unpaid experience. Candidates with demonstrated ability through work history, volunteer roles, or other applicable experience are strongly encouraged to apply, even if they do not meet traditional degree requirements.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 based on experience
