Slayden Constructors Inc. (SCI) is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to lead and support critical wastewater treatment plant construction projects in Oregon.

Slayden is a leader in water and wastewater infrastructure with 40+ years of growth and a strong safety focus. The role requires coordinating staff, establishing objectives, and managing client relationships to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Qualifications

  • 4-year engineering/construction management degree or equivalent experience/training
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of construction, design, finance, and management experience on heavy civil or industrial projects
  • 3-5 years of experience on water or wastewater plant projects
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong business orientation

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and staff key field positions or subordinate project managers
  • Establish project objectives and performance standards
  • Liaise with prime client and A/E contacts to facilitate activities
  • Monitor project execution to meet schedule and budget
  • Represent the company in project meetings and strategy discussions
  • Manage contracts financials and client relationships
  • Collaborate to complete MAP before fieldwork
  • Ensure safe work practices and adherence to policies
  • Provide leadership and technical support to project staff
  • Procurement of subcontractors and materials
  • Support Change Management, Cost Estimating, revenue and Cost Forecasting, and Scheduling
  • Take additional responsibilities as directed by Regional Director

(MWH) is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to support and lead a critical wastewater treatment plant construction projects in Oreogon. Essential Functions
  • Plan, organize, and staff key field positions or subordinate project managers. Coordinate staffing with US Operations and other Area department heads.
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within the boundaries of corporate policy.
  • Initiate and maintain liaison with prime client and A/E contacts to facilitate preconstruction and construction activities.
  • Monitor/control construction through administrative direction of on-site construction managers and superintendents to ensure the project is built on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
  • Represent the company in project meetings, assist in labor negotiations/strategy meetings, etc.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts (fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses, etc.) to protect the company's interest and maintain a good relationship with the Client.
  • Work jointly with other project team members to complete the MWH Constructors' Management Administration Plan (MAP) before initiating any fieldwork. Use the planning guidelines and tools provided throughout the project.
  • Assure that direct reporting employees follow safe work practices and use company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work safely.
  • Work in a manner to ensure your safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.
  • Provide leadership and technical support to project engineers, field engineers, and superintendents.
  • Procurement of subcontractors and materials through Purchase Agreements and Subcontracts.
  • Support Change Management, Cost Estimating, revenue and Cost Forecasting, and Scheduling.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed by the Regional Director.
Basic Qualifications
  • 4-year engineering/construction management degree or equivalent experience and training/education.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of construction, design, finance, and management experience/knowledge required on heavy civil or industrial construction projects.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience on water or wastewater plant projects.
  • Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
  • A thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc., and their impact on project activities is vital.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills are essential.
  • Strong business orientation required. Proven experience and judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Safety-oriented, OSHA training.
  • Special experience and expertise with water/wastewater and/or advanced technology treatment projects.
