Job summary

Slayden Constructors Inc. (SCI), a subsidiary of MWH Constructors, Inc., seeks experienced Project Managers to lead water and wastewater plant construction projects for municipal and industrial clients in Medford, OR.

Projects range from $20–$200 million and may be delivered via CM-at-Risk, Design-Build, or Design-Bid-Build. Ideal candidates will have 7–10 years of construction/finance/management experience, 3–5 years on water/wastewater projects, and a strong background in leadership,

Qualifications

  • 4-year engineering/construction management degree or equivalent experience and training/education.
  • 7-10 years of construction, design, finance and management experience on heavy civil or industrial projects.
  • 3-5 years of experience on water or wastewater plant projects.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong business-orientation with judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and maintain liaison with prime client and A/E contacts to facilitate preconstruction and construction activities.
  • Monitor/control construction through on-site managers to ensure schedule and budget compliance; investigate and correct issues.
  • Represent the company in project meetings and assist in labor negotiations/strategy meetings.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts to protect the company while maintaining client relationships.
  • Collaborate with project team to complete planning documents and use planning tools.
  • Ensure safety practices are followed by reporting employees and following guidelines.

Slayden Constructors Inc. (SCI), a wholly owned subsidiary of MWH Constructors, Inc. Slayden is seeking experienced Project Managers to support and lead critical water and wastewater treatment plant construction projects for both municipal and industrial clients based out of Medford, OR. Projects may be either integrated project delivery such as CM-at-Risk or Design-Build, or traditional Design-Bid-Build and range in size from $20-$200 million dollars in size.

Essential Functions
  • Initiate and maintain liaison with prime client and A/E contacts, to facilitate preconstruction and construction activities.
  • Monitor/control construction through administrative direction of on-site construction managers and superintendents to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
  • Represent Company in project meetings, assist in labor negotiations/strategy meetings, etc.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts (fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses, etc.) to protect company's interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with Client.
  • Work jointly with other members of the project team to complete the Slayden Constructors Management Administration Plan prior to initiating any fieldwork. Use the planning guidelines and tools provided throughout the project.
  • Assure that direct reporting employees follow safe work practices and use company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
  • Work in a manner to ensure your personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.
  • Provide leadership and technical support to project engineers, field engineers and superintendents.
  • Procurement of subcontractors and materials thru Purchase Agreements and Subcontracts.
  • Support Change Management, Cost Estimating, revenue and Cost Forecasting and Scheduling.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed by Operations Director.
Basic Qualifications
  • 4-year engineering/construction management degree or equivalent experience and training/education.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of construction, design, finance and management experience/knowledge required on heavy civil or industrial construction projects.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience on water or wastewater plant projects.
  • Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
  • Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities vital.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills essential.
  • Strong business-orientation required. Proven experience and judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Safety oriented, OSHA training.
  • Special experience and expertise with water/wastewater treatment projects.
