Job summary

Convergint is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our dynamic team and contribute to successful project delivery. You will support planning, scheduling and directing activities while ensuring projects stay within budget and on schedule.

The role emphasizes collaboration with customers, risk mitigation, and accurate cost reporting. A college degree or equivalent experience plus basic PM skills are required, with growth potential within our culture.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, organizing and directing assigned projects.
• Ensure projects are completed on budget and on time.
• Manage cash flow and provide timely cost reports.
• Act as a key interface with the customer to maximize satisfaction.
• Identify project risks and help implement mitigation strategies.
• Review actual vs. estimated costs using financial systems.

What you’ll do with “Our Training and Your Experience”

• Assist the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, organizing and directing, and application engineering for assigned projects.
• Ensures projects are effectively executed to budgeted cost and time schedules.
• Ensures positive cash flow on all assigned projects.
• Acts as key interface with the customer and maximizes customer satisfaction.
• Identifies potential project risks and assists to develop/implement strategies to minimize impact and develop and implement strategies for controlling deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.
• Utilizes financial systems to review actual vs. estimated job cost and to provide timely and accurate project cost reports.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

What You’ll Need

• Basic project management experience in a technical environment (building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems).
• Developing project financial skills.
• Leadership Orientation-Actively seeks ways in which to act as a role model, guide, develop and mentor others within the organization.
• Strong Microsoft Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.

Requirements

Education: College degree, trade school or equivalent experience

Preferred Experience: (but not required):

• 3-5 years engineering, field service or project management
• Experience in 1 or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, building automation, and/or healthcare
• Previous supervisory
