TRISO-X in Oak Ridge, TN is seeking an Assistant Project Manager in a growth-oriented program management track. You will support planning, coordination, and execution of large-scale, first-of-a-kind nuclear projects under senior leadership, collaborating across engineering, licensing, quality, manufacturing, and operations to maintain schedules and budgets.
You’ll develop project controls skills, gain exposure to risk analysis, and progressively assume greater responsibility as you communicate
The Assistant Project Manager is a developing project management role that supports the planning, coordination, and execution of large-scale projects and high-level programs at TRISO-X - working under the general supervision of senior project managers and project leadership while steadily building the skills to lead independently. You'll partner across the full project ecosystem - project controls, engineering, licensing, supply chain, quality, safety, manufacturing, testing, operations, and construction - gaining hands-on exposure to how first-of-a-kind nuclear programs come together. As you apply and grow your technical and programmatic skills on routine to moderately complex assignments, you'll take on increasing latitude for independent judgment: supporting project managers in identifying and resolving issues that affect cost and schedule performance, spotting opportunities to improve execution, and helping direct external subcontracted teams and internal matrixed teams. We're looking for a project professional who's eager to learn, detail-oriented, and ready to grow in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment: someone who thrives on coordination, communicates clearly across technical and non-technical audiences, and wants to develop into a full project manager under the mentorship of experienced leaders. This is a role designed for growth - every assignment builds the foundation for greater responsibility, autonomy, and impact on programs that are advancing clean, reliable nuclear energy at scale.
Assist and support team members with the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities, listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document, under guided supervision.
In addition to the above: Plan, coordinate, and execute moderately complex, technically challenging projects in alignment with project objectives, schedules, budgets, and deliverable requirements, under the general guidance of senior project managers.
Provide feedback and informal guidance to less experienced team members, sharing knowledge related to project management best practices, execution standards, and integration methodologies, under the guidance of senior project managers.
