Position Overview:
The Assistant Project Manager will support the Project Manager and Superintendent in coordinating all aspects of project execution. This is an opportunity for a self-starter to gain exposure to all phases of the construction process, work closely with top-tier clients and design teams, and grow within an established and respected GC firm.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing all phases of construction projects from pre-construction through close-out.
- Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Help maintain project schedules and ensure milestones are met.
- Prepare and track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and meeting minutes.
- Participate in project meetings and provide accurate project updates.
- Assist with procurement of materials and subcontractor services.
- Maintain detailed project documentation, including budgets, schedules, drawings, and contracts.
- Conduct site visits to assist in project oversight and quality control.
- Support in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Help enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with DOB and OSHA requirements.
Qualifications:
- 2–5 years of experience as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or similar role within an interior construction/general contracting firm.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, building codes, and industry standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project) and construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam).
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced Manhattan environment and handle multiple tasks effectively.
- Familiarity with DOB permitting processes and NYC-specific construction practices is a plus.
