We are seeking a motivated and detail-orientedAssistant Project Manager (APM)to join our growing team. The Assistant Project Manager will support Project Managers and field personnel in successful planning, coordination, execution, and closeout of commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills, a solid understanding of commercial construction practices, and a desire to grow into a Project Management role. Key Responsibilities
Project Administration
- Assist Project Managers in managing all phases of commercial construction projects from pre-construction through closeout.
- Maintain project documentation, including contracts, subcontracts, RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and correspondence.
- Track project progress and assist in maintaining project schedules.
- Coordinate project startup and closeout activities.
- Prepare and distribute project reports and meeting minutes.
- Maintain accurate project files and records.
- Assist with project budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Review subcontractor and vendor invoices for accuracy and contract compliance.
- Support the preparation of owner pay applications and subcontractor payment requests.
- Track pending and approved change orders.
- Monitor project commitments, job costs, and financial performance.
- Utilize Sage 300 to support project accounting, cost tracking, reporting, and financial management efforts.
Procurement & Subcontractor Management
- Assist with subcontractor procurement and buyout activities.
- Coordinate material procurement schedules and delivery tracking.
- Ensure subcontractors maintain required insurance and compliance documentation.
- Support subcontractor communication regarding project requirements, schedules, and expectations.
Scheduling & Coordination
- Participate in project planning and coordination meetings.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to monitor project schedules and milestones.
- Coordinate activities among project team members, subcontractors, consultants, and owners.
- Proactively identify and help resolve project issues impacting cost, schedule, or quality.
Quality & Safety
- Support the company's commitment to safety and quality excellence.
- Participate in project site visits and inspections.
- Assist with punch list management and project closeout documentation.
- Promote compliance with company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Support implementation of project-specific quality control programs.
Client Relations
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Participate in project meetings and client communications.
- Support efforts to ensure exceptional customer service and client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Building Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent construction experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in commercial construction, project engineering, assistant project management, or a related role.
- Experience working on commercial, healthcare, industrial, hospitality, multifamily, mixed-use, higher education, or corporate projects is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Experience withSage 300 Construction and Real Estate and CMIC Fieldpreferred.
- Experience with construction management platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud, CMiC Field, Viewpoint, or similar systems preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, budgets, and project schedules.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
