Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group is hiring an Assistant Project Manager for a large EPC power generation project near Midland, TX. The role requires coordinating across engineering, estimating, controls, procurement, and construction teams during development and execution.

Training will occur in Eagle Mountain, UT for 2 months. This is a full-time, on-site position with travel up to 75% and lodging covered by QISG. Opportunity to transition to future projects upon project completion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Science/Management, Engineering, or equivalent field.
  • 4+ years of construction project experience including scheduling, cost control, procurement and subcontracts.
  • Experience in EPC/design-build and Power Delivery industry is preferred.
  • Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate engineering, estimating, project controls, procurement, and construction activities during development and execution.
  • Assist PM in developing the initial project schedule with cross-functional input.
  • Participate in value engineering and constructability reviews.
  • Develop subcontractor and vendor scopes and schedules for review by PM.

About this Role

QISG is hiring three Assistant Project Managers to support a $250M, 286MW power generation EPC project. Looking for levels I, II and III

Position Highlights:

  • Long-term project assignment near Midland, TX
  • Initial 2-month training period will be in Eagle Mountain, UT
  • This is a full-time, permanent QISG position with opportunities to transition to future projects after completion
  • Must be willing to workon project site
  • Travel and lodging expenses covered by QISG
What You'll Do
  • Coordinates engineering, estimating, project controls, procurement, and construction activities during the development and execution phase(s) of the project
  • Assists PM in the development of the initial project schedule in conjunction with engineering, estimating, project controls, procurement, and construction management personnel
  • Participates in value engineering and constructability reviews
  • Works with procurement to develop subcontractor and vendor scopes of work and schedules exhibits to the contracts for review by PM before processing
  • Works with the appropriate Safety personnel on all safety-related issues, including but not limited to, development and implementation of the project-specific safety plan, reporting of incidents, and supporting the investigation of incidents
  • Assists the PM with project schedule and helps prepare monthly project review reports for the project management team and Senior Management
  • Supports project by conducting financial reviews and closeouts on a monthly basis
  • Assists with RFI submittals utilizing QISG's document management system
  • Provides feedback to improve Quality of all technical, commercial, and administrative deliverables for projects
  • Assists in procurement of purchase orders and subcontract packages
  • Monitors progress of overall design, procurement, and construction of the project
  • Facilitates Project Close-Out and Warranty administration
  • Performs post-construction cost review and reporting and participates in lessons learned
  • Performs any other duties assigned by the PM, including acting as PM when PM is unavailable
  • Performs any other duties assigned

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Science/Management, Engineering, or equivalent field; equivalent work experience, or combination of work and education, may be substituted
  • 4+ years of construction project experience, including various aspects of construction planning and management including, but not limited to engineering, estimating, bidding, preparing, and administering purchase orders and subcontracts, scheduling, cost control, document control, etc
  • Prior experience in EPC/design build as well as the Power Delivery (substation, transmission & distribution) industry
  • Self-starter
  • Understanding of the project design process for projects
  • Ability to work well independently, as well as part of a team
  • Strong problem evaluation/solving skills
  • Understanding of construction means and methods
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with other team members
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office and Procore)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Familiarity with estimating, scheduling, and project management software and processes
  • Understanding of integrated EPC process
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Must be capable of performing physical activities such as lifting to 20 pounds at times, bending, standing, walking, lifting, stretching, climbing, and crawling in both on-site and office environments
  • Must be able to work in varying environmental conditions and uneven terrain

  • Percent of Time: Up to 75%, or as project needs require
