The Assistant Project Manager at Miller Electric reports directly to the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager. This is a client‑facing role that requires the ability to build relationships both in and out of the office.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Excellent organizational skills
• Able to work independently as well as in a team

Responsibilities

• Assist in estimating project scope and costs
• Manage projects with subcontractors
• Communicate with clients and subcontractors
• Attend and actively participate in project coordination and owner/contractor/architect/engineer meetings as requested
• Research and preparation of change requests to resolve design issues for approval
• Research and recommend solutions to design document problems
• Monitor field work and/or contract work to ensure compliance with company standards, procedures, specifications, and codes
• Assist with the submittal process
• Assist in the tracking and completion of billing

Education

The Assistant Project Manager at Miller Electric reports directly to the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager. This is a client‑facing role that requires the ability to build relationships both in and out of the office. The core responsibility of an Assistant Project Manager is to learn through on‑the‑job experience, peer‑to‑peer engagement, and technical training.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in estimating project scope and costs
• Manage projects with subcontractors
• Communicate with clients and subcontractors
• Attend and actively participate in project coordination and owner/contractor/architect/engineer meetings as requested or required.
• Research and preparation of change requests to resolve design issues for approval
• Research and recommend solutions to design document problems, including conflicts, interferences, and errors/omissions
• Monitor field work and/or contract work to ensure compliance with company standards, procedures, specifications, and codes.
• Assist with the submittal process.
• Assist in the tracking and completion of billing.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

• Understanding of electrical installations
• Strong computer skills - specifically with Microsoft 365
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Able to work independently as well as in a team environment

Preferred

• A College degree, journeyman’s license, or master electrician’s license
• Experience in dealing with industrial construction/contracting
• Electrical contracting assistant project management experience
• Familiar with computer-based estimating
• Familiar with COINS (ERP Software)
• Knowledge of billing and collections
