Job summary

RWE Design Build in Downers Grove, IL, is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing commercial construction projects. This role bridges office and field operations, managing documentation, schedules, budgets, and communications with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in commercial construction or project support.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of construction methods, processes, and building codes.
• Proficiency in project management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project).

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing project schedules, budgets, and work plans.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, architects, and engineers to maintain workflow.
• Help track project milestones and deliverables.
• Prepare and maintain project logs, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and change orders.
• Ensure accurate record-keeping and document control throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist in reviewing contracts, purchase orders, and invoices.
• Track project costs and help prepare progress billings.
• Support management of change orders and budget adjustments.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.
• Help resolve day-to-day issues by coordinating between office and field teams.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing construction projects. Requirements

1-3 years of experience in commercial construction or project support.

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
