Job summary

Kent Companies is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support day-to-day field operations on concrete construction projects across the United States. The role coordinates planning, scheduling, material delivery, RFIs, and safety compliance for Mission Critical, Advanced Manufacturing, and Data Center facilities.

The candidate will work with clients, Superintendents, Project Managers, and subcontractors, traveling to jobsites nationwide to ensure quality and financial success.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of concrete construction or related experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of concrete processes, field operations, and quality control.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preconstruction planning, estimating support, and project scheduling.
  • Review drawings, specs, and submittals for accuracy.
  • Maintain daily reports, pour logs, and productivity tracking.
  • Assist with RFIs and ensure project code compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance to field teams on placement, curing, and sequencing.
  • Support safety initiatives and documentation.
  • Attend pull planning and key coordination meetings.

Job description

The Assistant Project Manager supports day-to-day field operations on concrete construction projects within Kent Companies’ National Mission Critical Division. This division delivers turnkey concrete construction services for Mission Critical, Advanced Manufacturing, and Data Center facilities across the United States. This position helps manage project planning, schedule updates, material coordination, technical reviews, quality control inspections, project documentation, and safety compliance. The role works closely with clients, Superintendents, Project Managers, and subcontractors to ensure project quality & overall financial success. This role involves extensive travel to jobsites in multiple states.

Project Planning & Coordination
  • Assist with preconstruction planning, estimating support, and project scheduling.
  • Maintain and update project schedules based on field conditions and client changes.
  • Coordinate ordering & delivery of materials (mix designs, rebar, embeds, formwork, accessories).
  • Attend pull planning and key coordination meetings.
  • Build positive working relationships with key trades impacting production.
Technical Support
  • Review drawings, specs, and submittals for accuracy.
  • Assist with RFIs and ensure project code compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance to field teams on placement, curing, and sequencing.
Quality Control & Assurance
  • Perform pre-pour and post-pour inspections with required documentation.
  • Manage QC checklists for all concrete scopes and verify compliance.
  • Oversee testing (slump, air, temperature) and monitor 7/28 day break results.
  • Monitor placement, square footage, and aesthetic quality of in-place work.
  • Ensure corrective actions and punch list completion.
  • Support as-built documentation and coordination with surveyors.
Documentation & Communication
  • Maintain daily reports, pour logs, and productivity tracking.
  • Assist with COs, billing, and pay apps.
  • Record and track field Favor Logs.
  • Liaise with PMs, Supers, clients, and testing agencies.
Safety
  • Support safety initiatives and documentation.
  • Participate in site safety meetings and walk-throughs.
  • Ensure daily JHA reporting.

Other Duties
  • 2–4 years of concrete construction or related experience preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.
  • Strong understanding of concrete processes, field operations, and quality control.
  • Ability to read and interpret project drawings and specifications.
  • Familiar with ACI standards, safety requirements, and best practices.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software (Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, etc.).
  • Frequent walking, standing, and fieldwork on active construction sites.
  • Ability to lift materials and equipment up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Tolerance to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must have reliable transportation to the workplace and job locations
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check related to driving
  • Ability to pass drug screening.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.
