- Support Project Managers and Project Executives with the planning, coordination, and execution of larger or more complex projects.
- Perform structural analysis and design, including complex engineering assignments, while balancing technical work with increasing project management responsibilities.
- Plan and coordinate structural engineering activities necessary to meet project deliverables and communicate priorities and assignments to engineering and BIM/modeling team members.
- Provide technical direction and guidance to Project Engineers and BIM/modeling team members and assist with resolving engineering, detailing, and coordination questions.
- Review engineering calculations, analysis models, structural drawings, and other project deliverables for technical accuracy, consistency, completeness, and conformance with Apex standards.
- Coordinate structural requirements with architects, MEP/FP consultants, contractors, fabricators, and other project participants and facilitate resolution of coordination issues affecting the structural design.
- Participate actively in external project meetings and communicate structural design, coordination items, required information, and project status with clients and other project participants.
- Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for clients and project participants on assigned smaller projects and assist the Project Manager or Project Executive with external communication on larger projects.
- Identify design, coordination, schedule, or project execution issues and communicate potential impacts and recommended solutions to the Project Manager or Project Executive.
- Coordinate and review responses to RFIs, submittals, field conditions, and other construction-phase engineering items and assist with resolving more complex construction issues.
- Assist with developing project work plans, schedules, staffing needs, and internal project assignments and monitor progress against established project requirements.
- Develop an understanding of project scope and fee and assist the Project Manager or Project Executive with monitoring project performance, additional services, and changes in scope.
- Assist with the development of project scopes, fee proposals, schedules, and resource plans for new and existing projects.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients through responsive communication, professionalism, technical competence, and consistent project execution.
- Provide day-to-day technical guidance to Project Engineer I, II, and III team members and assist with their continued technical and professional development.
- Participate in project QA/QC processes and help ensure Apex's engineering standards, design procedures, documentation requirements, and project delivery processes are consistently followed.
- Participate in Apex Technical Advisory Groups and contribute to the continued development of engineering standards, design tools, technical resources, workflows, and lessons learned.

- Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
- Typically five or more years of relevant structural engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Structural Engineer (SE) licensure.
- Structural Engineer (SE) licensure preferred and may be required based on project type and jurisdiction.
- Strong technical knowledge of structural analysis, building systems, load paths, and the design of structural systems using steel, concrete, masonry, and other applicable materials.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable building codes, ASCE 7, and structural material design standards.
- Proficiency with structural analysis and design software and the ability to review complex analysis models and engineering calculations prepared by other engineers.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural, structural, and MEP/FP construction documents and identifying structural coordination requirements and potential conflicts.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, fabricators, clients, and other project participants.
