Job summary

Cooper Construction is seeking a motivated Assistant Project Manager with industrial construction experience. The APM supports the Project Manager in scheduling, planning, forecasting, procurement, and coordination to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high quality.

This role manages project documentation, tracks progress, communicates with subcontractors and suppliers, and assists with technical activities to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in construction, engineering, or related field.
  • 1+ years field and project planning experience.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to work across disciplines.

Job description

Cooper Construction is seeking a motivated Assistant Project Manager with industrial constructionexperience. The APM plays a key role in supporting the Project Manager in scheduling, planning,forecasting, procurement, and overall coordination to ensure projects are delivered on time, withinbudget, and to the highest quality standards.

This role is responsible for managing project documentation, tracking progress, communicating withsubcontractors and suppliers, and assisting with technical activities to ensure accuracy andcompliance. The APM will also help establish and maintain quality and safety standards, while drivingeffective collaboration across field and office teams.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Participate in regular meetings with clients to ensure clarification and meet specific requirementsin a timely manner.
  • Delegate tasks to team members according to their individual skill sets, experience, and abilities toensure efficient completion of the project.
  • Maintain budgets and adjust with oversight by the Project Manager according to needs as theyarise.
  • Track performance and analyze the completion of key goals.
  • Document and report project progress to upper management and clients. Preparing, scheduling,coordinating, and monitoring assigned engineering projects.
  • Formulating project parameters with the Project Manager and assigning responsibilities to the mostcapable employees and monitoring the project team.
  • Interacting with clients, interpreting their needs and requirements, and representing them in thefield.
  • Performing quality control tasks on budgets, schedules, plans, and personnel performance andreporting on the project's status.
  • Cooperating and communicating with the project manager and other project participants andcollaborating with senior engineers to create more efficient project methods and to maintain theproject's profitability.
  • Reviewing the engineering tasks and initiating the necessary guidance or corrective actionsrequired.
  • Ensuring the project's material/installation compliance with the applicable codes, practices,policies, performance standards, and specifications.
Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree or master's degree in construction, engineering, or related field.
  • One or more years' field and project planning experience.
  • Excellent computer literacy and knowledge of construction and scheduling software.
  • The ability to work with multiple discipline projects.
  • Excellent project management and supervision skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, policies, standards, and best practices.
