Job summary

Cherry Coatings in Texas seeks a motivated project coordinator/PM assistant to support project managers with change orders, RFIs, submittals, and material tracking. You will learn our SOPs, assist in monthly financials, and help prepare cost reports for executives.

This role offers growth as you gain PM responsibility within a family-owned leading coating contractor. You will collaborate with field teams, designers, and clients, communicating clearly and ensuring deadlines are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field is required.
  • Commercial paint experience is preferred and helpful.
  • Experience in project management and logistics is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with change events, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and tracking.
  • Learn and apply Cherry Coatings’ SOPs to daily work.
  • Support the project team as main contact and help manage financials monthly.
  • Participate in project reporting, cost updates, and schedule communications to leadership.
  • Assist in estimating change orders and understanding owner/subcontract contracts.
  • Shadow PM to learn subcontract and payment processes.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Assisting Project Manager(s) with tasks such as: change events, change orders, RFI's, submittals, tracking materials, closeout documents, etc…
  • Learning and applying Cherry Coatings’ standard operating procedures, to your work.
  • Assisting the Project Manager and gaining experience in leading the project team as the main point of contact for the project.
  • Learning how to update, project, and manage the financials on a monthly basis.
  • Assist the PM in the monthly project process reports including cost reports updates, PCO, CO, RFIs, submittals, safety, and schedule reports to executive team leaders.
  • Assist in estimating change orders, reviewing and understanding the entire process according to the owner contract.
  • Learn the basic principles of the subcontracts and owner contracts by shadowing the PM while navigating payments, changes, claims, etc.
  • Be a member of the team involved in formal presentations for the project.

  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, Box, DocuSign, Textura, Bluebeam, and a willingness to learn AIA contracts.
  • Passion for construction and applying new technologies, concepts, and innovative solutions.
Qualifications:
  • Commercial paint experience is required
  • Experience in project management
  • Knowledge of inspection procedures and logistics management
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work well in a team and meet project deadlines
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience in the construction industry is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field
