Directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. This is a transitional position for someone with the required field experience and/or education to gain project engineering experience in a supervised manner prior to advancing into Project Engineer role.

Education and/or Experience: A minimum of 5–8 years of field and/or related experience where a PE license counts towards that related experience, a bachelor’s degree in a related field, and demonstrates ability to meet the requirements of the job as set forth in this description. Previous construction experience is preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred or the ability to become licensed within 6 months of being in this position.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification, Registered Professional Engineer (PE) preferred or the ability to become licensed within 6 months of being in this position, valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to access job sites.
Language Skills: Proficient in communicating both verbal and written in English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: Proficient or familiarity with AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, NitroPro, GSLOPE, KeyWall, Rocscience, MS Word, Excel, Adobe.
Tools/Equipment: Ability to use tools such as a lump hammer, shovel, hand auger, Nuclear Density Gauge.
Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; talk or hear; lift and/or move under 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Majority of work conducted in an office setting. Approximately 25% conducted outdoors, walking frequently on uneven hard and soft ground/terrain in all types of weather conditions (cold, hot, rain, snow, ice, etc.). Appropriate clothing for outdoor work and safety equipment required while working in the field.
Base salary $90,000–$120,000; mileage reimbursement, benefits, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, professional development opportunities, 401(k), and bonus potential.
