Job summary

The Harriman Program is seeking an Assistant Program Director to lead after-school activities in Long Island City, NY, ensuring a safe, engaging environment for middle schoolers. You will plan lessons, coordinate staff, and promote leadership and positive youth engagement.

You will collaborate with the Program Director and activity specialists to deliver dynamic, age-appropriate programming and to ensure compliance with DYCD and DOH standards.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience working with middle school-aged youth.
• College degree preferred, but students are welcome.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent group management and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Familiarity with DYCD and DOH program mandates.

Responsibilities

• Develop lesson plans and activity guides aligned with goals.
• Collaborate with staff to strengthen curriculum delivery.
• Model effective facilitation techniques and classroom management.
• Assist with supervision during activities, snack, transitions, and dismissal.
• Complete attendance, timesheets, and incident reports; ensure compliance.
