Scope of Position:
The Assistant Program Director at Tilden, a 60-bed OMH Licensed program for adults aging out of foster care, will support the Program Director in overseeing client services, fostering empowerment, and ensuring effective program delivery. This role involves supervising services such as 24/7 front desk coverage, medication management, and case management while providing individual counseling, crisis intervention, and maintaining building safety and upkeep. The Assistant Program Director will also build positive community relationships and manage delegated operational functions. In the Program Director's absence, the Assistant Program Director will assume all managerial responsibilities under the Area Director's supervision.
Essential Position Functions:
- Directly supervise staff providing client care. Oversee the delivery of services to clients, including program admission, ongoing operations, and program discharge.
- Ensure the program is prepared for successful audits and reviews. Assist the Program Director in completing monthly data collection to monitor services and trends in census, attendance, incidents, and funder outcomes.
- Be available on-call for 24-hour crisis intervention. Attend meetings as requested and be willing to work nights and/or weekends as needed.
- Assist the Program Director in managing personnel activities, including hiring, shift scheduling, policy and procedure development, staff meetings, case conferences, staff training, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and labor/management issues.
- Perform all required administrative duties, including data entry, monitoring performance measures, managing petty cash, and tracking staff attendance.
- Continuously assess building maintenance requirements and serve as the liaison with maintenance staff regarding repair needs. Ensure overall management of the facility, including repairs and purchasing.
- In collaboration with the Program Director, serve as a liaison with Property Management to ensure overall compliance.
- Attend staff meetings, supervision sessions, and training as required.
- Work with consumers, tenants, families, and staff in a caring and respectful manner, with an understanding and consideration of cultural diversity.
- Conduct apartment/building inspections on multiple floors, utilizing stairs. Provide escorts to clients throughout the community using public transportation and attend meetings/training off-site.
- In conjunction with the Program Director, ensure that all staff receive training on crisis intervention, verbal de-escalation, and trauma-informed care. Model appropriate interactions with clients, recognizing that care should be based on understanding a person's life experiences and history of trauma to be most effective and client-centered.
- Immediately report serious incidents, serious incident allegations, and sensitive situations to supervisors.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree with related experience, or a Master’s in a mental health discipline or related field.
- Experience working with mental health, crisis intervention, and managing trauma-triggered behavior.
- Experience supervising clinical and operational staff.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills; stress-resistant, flexible, and a team player; open to feedback and creative problem-solving; strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Willingness to perform CPR, First Aid, AED, CPI, and Naloxone administration.
- Knowledge of AWARDS system.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
