Job description

Job Description

Assistant Program Manager - Residential Care

We are searching for a highly committed, dependable, and experienced direct support professional; a person who has a proven record in human services or a related field and is ready for more responsibilities. If you have been a Leader, Role Model, or even an Assistant Manager in this field before, you understand the job well. Residential management in this field is challenging but rewarding, considering the special individuals and families we serve. If you are friendly, compassionate, and genuinely care for people, and want to join a mission-based organization, this might be the right opportunity for you.

The residents of this program are a special group to serve. The guardians are supportive of GIL and our staff. The residents are active in community outings and recreational activities; therefore, an enthusiastic, attentive Assistant Manager willing to explore opportunities for personal expression, new experiences, and family interaction is preferred.

About the Company & Our Mission:

GIL Foundation Inc. is a private nonprofit providing services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and autism in CT. Since 1985, GIL has been a top-tier care provider with a reputation for quality services through DDS. We are committed to higher standards of loving and compassionate care. Our vision is to see individuals pursuing opportunities and overcoming challenges, leading to transformed lives.

The Program Manager will receive support from a dedicated Assistant Program Manager to assist with program assignments. On-call schedules are shared among Managers and Supervisors to share workload and reduce burden.

We provide solid support from responsible Program Directors, qualified Nurses, and a supportive Administration. Though not the largest organization, we are strategic and considerate, valuing our staff and providing tools and coaching as needed.

Benefits We Offer:
  • Meaningful, Life-Changing Careers
  • Competitive Pay
  • Enhanced Compensation for Holidays
  • Supportive Atmosphere in a Casual Environment
  • Employee Paid Time Off
  • Medical Benefits – 100% Employer Paid for Employees
  • Dependent Medical Benefits – 50% Employer Paid
  • Enhanced Compensation for FT Employees who waive Medical Benefits
  • Salary-based Life Insurance
  • Health Savings Account (HSA)
  • Flexible Savings Account (FSA)
  • Supplemental Benefit Plans
  • 401(k) Retirement Plans
  • Employee Referral Incentive
  • Opportunities for Overtime
The Essentials – What We Are Looking For:

We seek someone who fits our culture, has served as a Direct Support Professional, and can handle more responsibilities. A person of integrity, responsible, organized, attentive to detail, honest, faithful, trustworthy, and dedicated will fit well. The role requires teamwork with another Assistant Program Manager and the Program Manager.

The candidate should be caring, compassionate, a coach and mentor for 12-15 staff members, kind, patient, flexible, observant, a good listener, and capable of supervising and training a diverse workforce. Support management in medical, financial, programmatic, recreational, and facility needs.

The role requires flexibility with schedule and availability due to 24-hour care needs, and a willingness to learn and ask questions. This is an hourly position with overtime and on-call responsibilities in a rotation.

Schedule:

Shifts are fixed, supported by an electronic scheduling system accessible via staff devices, allowing real-time management of shifts, swaps, and time off.

Why Join Our Team:
