Job summary

Louisburg Recreation Commission is seeking an Assistant Program Director to partner with the Recreation Director in delivering high-quality year-round recreation and enrichment opportunities for the Louisburg community.

You will help recruit and train volunteer coaches, assist in coordinating programs and events, and manage facility operations and equipment to meet program goals and budgets set by the Recreation Director.

Qualifications

  • 1 - 2 years in Parks and Recreation, Sports Management or similar experience
  • First Aid, CPR certified or able to obtain certification within the first 3 months of employment
  • Flexible schedule; days, evenings, or weekends

Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating and implementing year-round youth and adult recreation and enrichment programs, sports leagues, tournaments, and special events.
  • Oversee operations of facilities used for LRC purposes, including athletic fields, gymnasiums, and community buildings.
  • Assist in marketing, organizing, and supervising youth and adult sports leagues, enrichment programs, camps, and tournaments.
  • Assist in recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision of volunteers.
  • Schedule practices for youth sports leagues in coordination with the Director.
  • Ensure facilities and equipment are maintained and safe for use.
  • Assist in managing facility, equipment, and supply usage with Director.
  • Contribute to development of LRC marketing efforts for programs and events.
  • Support development of promotional materials for programs, leagues, and events.
  • Seek sponsorship opportunities for programs, leagues, and events.
  • Maintain a detailed equipment inventory for facilities and events.

About Us:

The Louisburg Recreation Commission (LRC) was created under a joint agreement between the City of Louisburg and USD 416 after being approved by voters in the November 2016 election. The LRC is managed by the Recreation Director, with oversight by a 5-person Board. The LRC’s goal is to provide sports and enrichment programming for all ages for residents within the Louisburg school district.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Program Director works alongside the Recreation Director to provide high-quality recreation and enrichment opportunities for the Louisburg community. Key responsibilities of the Assistant Program Director are to coordinate and assist in administering comprehensive year-round youth and adult recreation and enrichment programs.

The Assistant Program Director works alongside the Director in recruiting and training volunteer coaches for recreation programs.

The Assistant Program Director is responsible for assisting in the coordination of recreation programs and facility operations, as well as meeting defined program goals and budgets, as set forth by the Recreation Director. Work is performed with a substantial degree of independence within the framework of approved policies and procedures.

The Assistant Program Director reports directly to the Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of year-round youth and adult recreation and enrichment programs, sports leagues, tournaments, and special events.
  • Oversee operations of facilities used for LRC purposes, including, but not limited to athletic fields, gymnasiums, and community buildings.
  • Assist in the marketing, organization, and supervision of youth and adult sports leagues, enrichment programs, camps, and tournaments.
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision of volunteers.
  • Work with the Director to schedule all practices for youth sports leagues.
  • Assist in the supervision of all recreation facilities and ensure they are maintained properly and are safe and ready for use.
  • Assist the Director to maintain proper use of facilities, equipment, and supplies.
  • Participate in the development of LRC marketing efforts for programs, leagues, special events, and facilities.
  • Participate in the development of promotional materials for programs, leagues, and special events.
  • Aid in seeking sponsorship opportunities for programs, leagues, and special events.
  • Maintain a detailed equipment inventory for facilities, programs, and special events.
