Salary: $20- $25/hour

Position Summary:

The Assistant Program Coordinator reports to the School Age Coordinator for the Bicultural Bilingual School and is responsible for supporting the school- Age Director with the overall management of the site's afterschool and summer camp programs. This includes planning, organizing, coordinating and supervising elementary group leaders and program activities and program staff of all school age programs. Implement the Agency Mission, goals & objectives as well as Agency/Center policies & procedures. An additional component of the position is supporting data input related to site's database systems.

Children's Aid annually serves children and their families at over 40 sites in New York, as well as through three national program models. Children's Aid is concentrating its efforts on creating cradle-through-college pathways in high-need neighborhoods, with a focus on children's health, family stability, education, and social and emotional development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the School- Age Director in the overall operation of all school-age programs and summer camp programs
  • Supervise and Evaluate School Age program staff
  • Conduct daily walkthroughs, assist with monthly observations and provide feedback for staff
  • Development & Maintains Relationships with Youth, Families (Parent), and school staff
  • Create and update program rosters, sign out sheets & monthly attendance sheets
  • Track attendance for members, monitor monthly chronic absenteeism
  • Communicate, reach out to parents in timely manner regarding incident, attendance, etc
  • Assist with recruitment and registration for all programs
  • Track applications & identify what documents are missing
  • Develop tracking for incoming applicants by group
  • Support Data Specialist inputting data into agency wide systems
  • Create, organize and maintain confidential client files
  • Be a positive role model for children and serve as a positive role model for staff
  • Complete and submit weekly schedules, reports and all other required documentation
  • Interact, engage and maintain open communication with parents to enable a better understanding of youth needs and how to manage the child/children.
  • Work collaboratively with other agency youth programs and partners
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and evenings, when necessary.
  • All other duties as required, assigned and necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:

Associate or bachelor's Degree preferred

  • 5 Years of experience working with school age Youth and /or families in community-based programs
Key Competencies:
  • Knowledge of youth development principles and youth programs.
  • Flexible and able to adapt.
  • Experience in curricula development and implementation.
  • Ability to interface with diverse youth and staff populations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Excellent Communication Skills (written & verbal).
  • Bilingual/English Spanish is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and database operations.
