Assistant Professor in Aquatic Ecosystem Ecology
The Department of Zoology and Physiology at the University ofWyoming invites applications for a tenure-track position in AquaticEcosystem Ecology at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek aninnovative scientist who will establish an extramurally-fundedresearch program addressing fundamental and/or applied questions infreshwater ecosystem ecology, and who will excel in a highlycollaborative university setting through contributions to research,teaching, service, and outreach.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong,extramurally funded research program focused on aquatic ecosystemecology. We seek a colleague who is committed to participating inthe community through teaching, research, service, andundergraduate and graduate student mentoring. The individual willbe expected to contribute to the academic missions of theDepartment and the interdepartmental Ph.D. program in Ecology andEvolutionary Biology. The successful candidate will also contributeto undergraduate and graduate education. Teaching responsibilitiesmay include courses in aquatic ecology, ecosystem ecology, ecology,environmental science, quantitative ecology, or related areas,depending on the candidate's expertise and departmental needs.Candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to inclusive,evidence-based teaching and effective mentoring of students fromdiverse backgrounds.
The candidate will be expected to participate in appropriateservice activities including, but not limited to, serving ondepartmental, college, and university committees, and graduatecommittees. These service functions are in addition todiscipline-related service activities at the national andinternational levels.
Minimum experience requirements are evaluated on a full-timeequivalent (FTE) basis. Relevant part-time experience will beprorated based on hours worked. For example, two years working anaverage of 20 hours per week is equivalent to approximately oneyear of full-time experience.
