Assistant Professor, Tenure Track, Infectious Diseases

Location: Philadelphia, PA

The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the tenure track. Applicants must have an M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. The Division has a strong track record of basic and clinical research across the spectrum of pediatric infections and host–microbe interactions and offers opportunities to collaborate with virology, immunology, bacteriology, parasitology, and microbiome experts across the University of Pennsylvania campus and CHOP Research Institute.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching: high-quality teaching of CHOP fellows and residents, as well as medical students from the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.
  • Clinical: providing coverage in one or more inpatient consultation services (general infectious diseases; care of immunocompromised hosts; attending-NP service focused on NICU and Orthopedic patients) and seeing patients in the Division’s outpatient clinical practice. Contribute to dedicated partner clinics for collaborative outpatient care for patients with conditions such as malignancies, bone marrow and organ transplantation, and cystic fibrosis.
  • Travel: as CHOP expands its footprint and the Division partners with external organizations, some local travel may be required.
  • Research: fundamental or translational research in infectious diseases. Candidates with a strong record of research productivity and interest in fundamental or translational research will be considered.
Qualifications
  • MD/PhD or equivalent degree.
