The Department of Communication at the University of North Dakota seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Communication focusing on strategic communication strategic communication, such as advertising and public relations, who employs quantitative, qualitative, and/or computational research methods. Experience in sports communication and a teaching/research record related to name, image, and likeness (NIL) will be preferred.
The successful applicant will receive an initial contract with an approximate effort distribution of 50% teaching, 40% research, and 10% service. We value a broad range of perspectives and actively seek applicants committed to the success of our students.
Publishing peer-reviewed journal articles and applying for competitive external grants on a regular basis will be expected for tenure. Annual teaching load will be 2/2. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate-level courses face-to-face and online, including but not limited to, Social Media Strategy, Sports Communication, Writing for Advertising & Public Relations, Principles of Strategic Communication, Organizational Communication, and Advertising and Society. The successful candidate will also be expected to teach graduate-level (M.A. and Ph.D.) courses such as Principles of Professional Communication, Communication and Organizations, and Information Communication Technologies. Assigned courses will be consistent with the area of expertise. As a faculty member, the candidate will be expected to organize and lead an advertising club to participate in the National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) and/or the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA).
