Job description

We are seeking an outstanding candidate to join our faculty in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Massachusetts Boston as a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Sport Leadership and Administration to begin September 1, 2026. Candidates with scholarly expertise in equity in sport, whose teaching, research, and service will advance our college mission and the commitments outlined in our university strategic plan, are particularly encouraged to apply.

Research Focus

1. Opportunities and barriers to equity in sport leadership and administration.
2. The role of sport in the pursuit of social change.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Scholarship that incorporates critical theoretical lenses to advance equity and social justice in sport through scholarship, teaching, and service.
2. Experience with culturally sustaining and inclusive approaches to teaching and learning.
3. Involvement in collaborative, interdisciplinary and community‑engaged scholarship.
4. A record or promise of research productivity.

Responsibilities

1. Teaching undergraduate courses in the Sport Leadership and Administration Program.
2. Conducting research that is relevant to the field of sport leadership and administration.
3. Contributing service to university, college, departmental, and program committees, professional associations, and to local, national, and/or international communities.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. or Ed.D. from a Sport Management, Educational Leadership, Sport Studies, Sport Psychology, Sport Sociology, or related field.

UMass Boston expects to pay within an approximate range between $80,000 and $85,850 for this position. The specific pay will be determined by the University based on the consideration of all relevant factors when an offer is extended.
