The College of Education seeks a tenure track Assistant Professorto teach graduate and undergraduate core courses across multiplemajors, but specifically Secondary Education. This facultyposition, based in the Department of Teacher Education, is a10-month academic year position. This position will teach onlinegraduate and face-to-face undergraduate courses in SecondaryTeacher Education pedagogy, assessment, curriculum, and childdevelopment; support teacher candidates in their development intoeffective educators; supervise teacher candidates in fieldplacements.
Teaching Responsibilities
Teach 4-4 course load each fall and spring semester. Courses aretaught both on campus and in an on-line environment and faculty areexpected to regularly come to campus.
All Georgia College & State University faculty share theresponsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providingfoundation courses for majors and non-majors alike. Facultyemployees also contribute to the Georgia College & StateUniversity core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) orsophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses.
All faculty are expected to support the advancement of thedepartment, college, and university mission by providing service tothe institution. Service may be at the department, college,university, community and/or disciplinary level. Duties includeservice on college-level, and university-level committees, advisingstudents regarding career options, and support department-leveloutreach activities.
Service to the Institution
Faculty are expected to conduct research and develop within theprofession.
Academic Achievement/Professional Development
Assist with continual program development.
Participate in program, department, college, and other committees.Participate in student recruitment and placement activities.
Perform administrative dutyas needed.
Terminal degree in a closely related field.

Evidence of successful teaching (a minimum of 3 years) teachingexperience with 6th through 12th grade learners).
The proposed salary is $62,516.
