Position Summary
The Department of Philosophy atthe University of Illinois Chicago invites applications for a tenure-track AssistantProfessor position beginning August 16, 2027. We are looking for applicantswhose work focuses on philosophical issues raised by AI or relatedtechnologies. The successful applicant will be expected to develop and regularlyteach undergraduate courses on thephilosophy of computing and the ethics of computing and AI that serve as corecourses for the Computer Science + Philosophy program. In addition, we arelooking for someone capable of building interdisciplinary connections betweenthe philosophy department and those departments concerned with computationalscience. The teaching load is two courses per semester and faculty are expectedto be research active and to provide service to the department and university. UIC faculty are expected to carry out theirresponsibilities in person and onsite as part of a vibrant and collegialon-campus community.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD expected prior to start date,evidence of teaching effectiveness and research accomplishment in the area offocus.
