Job description

Job Description - Assistant Professor - Online Counselor Education (25000298)

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will serve as a core counselor education program faculty member responsible for engaged research, effective online teaching, advising, professional activity in the field of counseling, and service to the Department and the College. Teaching responsibilities will include six courses over the academic year (fall and spring terms). All faculty are required to have an independent clinical license in their state of residence, more than two years of full-time clinical practice experience outside of academically required experiences, and commit to maintaining a small active clinical practice while a faculty member.

Qualifications:

  • Education: doctoral degree in counselor education; or related doctoral degree with full-time faculty experience in a counselor education program; or full-time doctoral-level faculty in a CORE-accredited master’s program; or graduated from a rehabilitation doctoral program prior to January 1, 2018. ABD candidates must complete the PhD by the appointment start date.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency and ability to foster inclusive learning environments.
  • Have an active, independent professional counseling license and two or more years of direct clinical experience outside of academia.
  • Experience teaching, preferably online, in a graduate program for counselor education.
  • Proven record of excellence in instruction.
  • Strong commitment to working as part of a faculty team.
  • Strong record of curriculum development.
  • Record of active involvement in professional organizations.
  • Proficiency in CACREP accreditation requirements.
  • Commitment to issues of social justice and diversity.
  • Strong commitment to preparing students to become excellent practitioners.

Preferred qualifications:

  • At least two years of teaching experience.
  • Earned the doctoral degree from a CACREP-accredited program.
  • An active research agenda to support an accelerated tenure and promotion timeline.
