Bethune-Cookman University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sociology in the Department of Social Sciences at Daytona Beach, FL. The area of specialization is open, with preference for family, medical sociology, or social work.

The successful candidate will teach at least four courses per semester, engage in scholarly research, and participate in service activities while delivering online and face-to-face instruction.

• Excellence in teaching and service is required. For PhD faculty, a commitment to an active research agenda is also required.
• Regularly scheduled office hours are mandatory (10 hours per week minimum).
• Online teaching experience is preferred but not required.

Job Summary:

The Department of Social Sciences at Bethune‐Cookman University invite applications for one (1) full‐time tenure‐track Sociology position to support the undergraduate program. The area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to applicants with specialization in family, medical sociology, or social work. The successful candidate will:

• Teach a minimum of four (4) courses each semester (except during summer semester).
• Teaching during summer semester will be available although it will depend on students’ enrollment.

Applicants will be required to teach through both online (using Teams or Zoom apps) and face-to-face modalities

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Demands normal manual dexterity and visual and auditory acuity.
• Must be mobile throughout the campus.
• Typically, the incumbent may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, or carrying light items.
