Job summary

The University of Virginia Department of Neurological Surgery seeks Research Assistant Professor(s) on the Research Faculty-Research Support track to advance collaborative neuroscience projects.

Candidates should hold a PhD with expertise in cerebrovascular disease and brain injury, publish in peer‑reviewed journals, lead histology and imaging work, support grant applications, and contribute to education and research of medical students and residents.

Qualifications

• PhD in neurosciences or related field
• Post‑doctoral training (2+ years) is required
• Proven publication history in peer‑reviewed journals
• Ability to assist in and potentially lead grant applications as PI or co‑PI

Responsibilities

• Lead lab efforts in histology and quantitative imaging, rodent models, hypothesis‑driven designs, data synthesis, statistical analyses, and related lab activities.
• Assist in applications for internal and external grants to support our research, and ultimately apply for grants as PI or co‑PI.
• Present at relevant conferences, and serve as lead and supporting authors on publications in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Support medical student and resident education and research.

Job description

The University of Virginia Department of Neurological Surgery is seeking Research Assistant Professor(s) of Neurosurgery on our Research Faculty-Research Support track. Candidates include PhDs with expertise in Cerebrovasculardiseases and Brain Injury, such asstroke, aneurysm and vascular malformations, intracerebral hemorrhage and traumatic brain injury.They will be expected to make substantial and critical contributions in team or collaborative science projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead lab efforts in histology and quantitative imaging, rodent models, hypothesis‑driven designs, data synthesis, statistical analyses, and/or more relevant lab activities.
• Assist in our applications for internal and external grants to support our research, and ultimately apply for grants as PI or co‑PI.
• Present at relevant conferences, and serve as lead and supporting authors on publications in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Support medical student and resident education and research.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in neurosciences or related fields and at least two years of post‑doctoral training.
• A proven history of publication in peer‑reviewed journals is also required.
