The University of Alaska Anchorage invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Psychology with a specialty in behavior analysis. The successful candidate will teach in ABAI-accredited undergraduate and graduate programs, contribute to program development, and participate in scholarly activity.

This 9-month, tenure-track position begins in August 2027 on the Anchorage campus. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D.

Job description

The Department of Psychology at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Psychology with a specialty in behavior analysis. The primary teaching responsibilities will be in the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) accredited undergraduate and graduate behavior analysis programs. This is a 100%, 9-month, faculty position complete with both a competitive salary, DOE, and full employee benefits package, with an expected start date in August 2027.

The Department of Psychology at UAA offers bachelors (BA/BS), MS in Clinical Psychology (Clinical & Applied Behavior Analysis Tracks), MS in School Psychology - Specialist, and APA accredited doctorate (Ph.D. in Clinical-Community Psychology) degrees. In addition, the Department offers a graduate certificate in Children’s Mental Health. The Department prepares students: (1) for advanced study in the social and health sciences, and (2) to become members of the behavioral health workforce. The department also maintains the Psychological Services Center, a clinic that provides low-cost mental health services to campus and community members. The department strives to offer degree and certificate programs that meet the needs of the state of Alaska. Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in psychology, behavior analysis, or closely related field by the time of appointment. Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Licensed or license-eligible as a behavior analyst in Alaska. Disciplinary expertise in behavior analysis. Demonstrated capacity for scholarly or creative activity, including publications, presentations, or a defined research agenda. Evidence of potential for excellence in teaching at the college/university level.

Preferred Experience: Evidence of effective teaching across modalities, including online or hybrid formats; experience with curriculum development, program assessment, or course design; familiarity with or experience in grant writing and project management; experience teaching or working in an open-access, public university; evidence of interdisciplinary collaboration or applied/community-engaged scholarship; and knowledge of regional issues or communities relevant to the institution’s mission (e.g., Circumpolar North, Alaska Native communities, rural engagement).

This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, AK. This is a full-time, 9-month base, tenure-track faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
