Position Description

The Department of Biology invites applications for a full time, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Instruction position. We seek an experienced and dedicated instructor to offer face-to-face lecture courses and to coordinate lab classes in freshman majors and nonmajors biology beginning in fall 2025. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in departmental and university meetings, committees and service activities, and to assume other duties as assigned by the Chair of the Department of Biology. This position is promotion-eligible but non-tenurable.

Required Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate in biology or a closely related life science field
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Previous teaching experience in general biology classes
  • Availability to teach late afternoon/evening classes
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated excellence in college or university-level teaching as instructor of record in introductory biology courses
  • Proficiency in the use of instructional technology
  • Experience coordinating multiple laboratory classes and managing teaching assistants
