Job description

Salary: $100 - $135k with total compensation estimated at $181k - $216k

Status: Full Time

Specific Responsibilities and Duties:

In addition to mutually agreed upon goals to be developed in partnership with the department director and the division chief, the Assistant Professor shall assume the following responsibilities and duties:

General Academic and Teaching

  • Expected to devote part of your time to formal and informal instruction of medical students and post-graduate trainees in Surgery.
  • Expected to mentor fellows, students, residents, and faculty, participate in resident teaching and education, attend division conferences, participate in national organizations, continue to produce scholarly output, and uphold the code of conduct for faculty.
  • Participate in the department's weekly mortality and morbidity conference, the staff and resident education conference, the Department of Surgery faculty meetings, grand rounds, and the division of HPB-GI faculty meetings.

Clinical

  • Expected to provide clinical services in Hepatobiliary Surgery and Surgical Oncology Gastrointestinal at a commitment of approximately 25% effort, including about 1.5 days per week of clinical activity.

Research

  • You will dedicate 75% of your time to research in the Vogelstein Lab. The expectation is that you will work to secure extramural sponsored funding in year 2 and onwards to support your protected time. Research efforts will be adjusted based on funding in subsequent years.

Quality

  • Responsible for quality improvement and assurance efforts within your division.

Citizenship

  • We expect that the candidate fulfills all obligations as indicated by the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Gold Book and the Clinical Practice Association (CPA).
