Position Summary:

The Department of History and Social Sciences at Northern StateUniversity invites applications for a full-time, tenure-trackAssistant Professor of History. This position offers theopportunity to teach and mentor students in Early American Historythrough the Civil War era while contributing to the department'sresearch culture and to university life more broadly. Theanticipated start date is August 2027.

Minimum Qualifications:

• PhD in History, with a specialty in Early American Historythrough the Civil War era; any focus within that broad period iswelcome. ABD candidates with a definite completion date prior tothe position's start date may also be considered.
• Experience teaching or developing digital public history projectsis preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate educationResponsibilities: The successful candidate will teach twelve credithours per semester in introductory and upper-level American Historycourses.
