Job summary

Morehouse College invites applications for a tenured track Assistant Professor of Economics beginning Fall 2027. A PhD in Economics by May 2027 or soon after is required, with a strong focus on applied econometrics.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate economics courses, advise students, contribute to core curriculum, and pursue scholarly research while engaging in service to the department and college.

Qualifications

• PhD in Economics from a fully accredited institution.
• Strong interest in applied econometrics by May 2027.
• Ability to engage diverse students across a liberal arts curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate economics courses (e.g., Mathematical Economics, Financial Economics, Statistics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics).
• Demonstrate a commitment to high-quality teaching and student learning outcomes.
• Develop course materials and integrate technology into instruction.
• Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
• Provide service to the department, institution, and profession.
• Participate in committees, curriculum development, and program assessment activities.
• Support student development initiatives and departmental programs.

Position Summary

The Department of Economics at Morehouse College invites applications for a tenured track position in economics beginning in the Fall semester of 2027. Applications are open to candidates that have either a Ph.D. degree or who will have received a Ph.D. in economics and have a strong interest in applied econometrics by May 2027.

Successful candidates should have an active research portfolio and be prepared to engage with diverse students across a liberal arts curriculum. The candidate should identify their strengths and experiences in assisting Black men and men of color from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds towards the accomplishment of curricular goals. Also, the successful candidate will support the College’s general education and the core requirements of the Department of Business Administration’s curriculum.
