Position Summary
Morehouse College, a historically Black liberal arts college dedicated to developing men with disciplined minds who will lead lives of leadership and service, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science starting August 2025. Candidates who apply are asked to identify their strengths and experiences in assisting Black men and men of color from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds to accomplish curricular goals. The successful candidate will be expected to support the College’s general education curriculum.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field by the time of appointment (Aug 2025) from a full-time, accredited institution. ABD (All But Dissertation) Candidates will also be considered if the completion date is estimated by May 2026.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

● Demonstrated potential for excellence in research, with a focus on one or more of the following areas: Artificial Intelligence, High-Performance Computing, Data Science, and Visualization.

● Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Demands
● The ability to sit for extended periods of time at a computer is required.
● Must be able to read on a computer as necessary.
● Ability to walk at a mild pace and stand in class frequently.

● Teaching: Teach and develop undergraduate courses in Computer Science, particularly in the areas of AI, HPC , Data Science, and Visualization. Teaching general Computer Science courses will also be required.
● Research: Maintain an active research agenda that includes securing external funding, publishing in peer-reviewed venues, and contributing to the advancement of the fields of AI, HPC , Data Science, or Visualization. This should be done in collaboration with Morehouse students.
● Service: Participate in departmental, college, and professional service activities.
● Mentorship: Provide academic advising and mentorship to undergraduate students, particularly encouraging underrepresented groups to pursue computing careers and graduate studies.
